It was back in the 70s today after a weeklong foray back in to winter. We had snow last Monday and weather in the 30s-40s for about a week. I survived by going outside as little as possible. Unfortunately I had “afterschool supervision duty” all week, and the other teacher who had duty with me is even worse than I am about not doing something and then sounding all sorry for it later.
After school supervision goes from 3:30 until 4:00 and is the longest 30 minutes of the school day. The kids don’t even have to be bad (they seldom are) it’s just that you always have something that you really should be doing during that time.
Did I mention I had a cold? I think I’ve gone and given it to Lauren. Yeah, that’s why I’m posting.

That’s so intensely interesting to me! I never see that garden outside of winter and July.
Those are Lycoris squamigera, also known as Surprise Lilies, or Naked Ladies(hehe). They are related to Amaryllis. The leaves come up now and die by summer. In August, bare stems pop up and open into lovely pink lilies. The variety you have has a subtle lilac shading that looks almost like tye-dye to me. I took a bulb last year and planted it in my garden. I can’t wait to see the flowers!
And warm weather for you now means we’ll have it in two days! Yay!
Lloyd says
I always wondered where those naked ladies came from in the summer.
Lauren says
You wanna explain yourself, misters?  (That’s for Brad and Lloyd.)
Lloyd says
I have a tablecloth.
Peggy says
HA!!!! Lloyd, I laughed out loud.
(thus the real reason of why Brad likes gardening so much is revealed)
