I just got back from a very good conference in Boulder, Colorado. (Sorry, Mom and Dad – there was no time to meet up or I would have called you!) I was just the thing to start off the year right. It wasn’t one of those ‘make-it, take-it’ things where you learn cute ideas for Monday morning, but a two-day institute on learning to observe and document children’s work/play so that you can see what they are really learning and make good teaching choices based on that. It was kind of a refresher course, and it’s got me pumped and ready for the coming year.
One of our activities was to watch somebody play around with buttons and take notes. This is Annette’s button creation. Don’t you all think that she’s gifted??

I like what she’s done with those buttons. Very organtic.

When I was in 5th grade, we had to write a childrens story & illustrate it. Mine was called “The Red Button.” It was about a button that popped off a child’s coat & it’s adventures as it rolled around the city. I also wrote the world renonwned story, “Pigs With Wigs”, just for fun. Freaky child.

When I was a child, I wrote “BNOS” on a mug. It meant “Ice cream and peanuts.” Nothing about flying pigs or itinerant buttons though.

You must have been a special, special boy.

HA! I just noticed you have a whole category dedicated to bacon. Mmmm… bacon. That doesn’t have any cholesterol in it, right?
