It has become tradition to visit the State Fair with the Kolliparas. This year we were smart and went early in the day before it got so blasted hot. It was a fun day full of walking, sightseeing, and eating really overpriced food. (My only disappointment was my funnel cake. It was mostly grease – yuck.) The fresh-squeezed lemonade was top-notch, though.
One of my favorite events was watching Dave the Horn Guy. He had horns attached all over and played some pretty amazing stuff. Such talent! I have trouble remembering how to play chords on a ukulele – he has to remember ‘left armpit/ right side of waist/ right knee’.
But by far and away, the coolest thing there was an empty train car. The part of me that loves all things tiny and clever was just going beserk inside. It had a coal stove, storage closets, two chairs up high to watch the world go by, a tiny bathroom, a bunk, a desk, chairs – I need a train much, much more than I need an RV. If I had a train as my guest house…. well, I’d live in the guest house and you all could stay in the actual house. Please, Santa, please.

I think I saw the horn guy on “America’s Got Talent”. Cool!
And dang it, I forgot about the state fair here. I totally missed it. Good-bye, my dear funnel cakes… until next summer.

That train looks very unappealing (sorry); … and it looks more like a sub(marine) to me … it looks cold, & nasty, & unwelcoming … much unlike the Teardrops.
Off topic: I just had to pull a student from class for a family matter and she said, “Oh Snap!” So isn’t that really like saying … Oh, Sh--! How old do you have to be to say Oh snap & not get in trouble. I still don’t understand the appropriate time to use it. Oh snap!
Lloyd says
I believe that the student improperly used the Oh Snap.

Yes indeed -- let’s add that to the demerit form!
