Saturday on Monday

Journal, Lauren

Ok, the camera’s fine. Now I can tell you about Saturday.

It’s kind of a shame that we didn’t go stand outside for Ron Paul, because I totally would have made a post about all the clothes I had planned to wear – wool tights, socks, three shirts and a sweater, and best of all, my fleece-lined jeans. I bought them when I went to Alaska to visit my sister years ago and I hardly ever have a chance to wear them. Drat.

What we did do was go to Omaha early so that we could look around a little before ukulele night. For me, that always means a trip to Nebraska Furniture Mart. It’s an enormous furniture store – I believe one of the largest in America. (Think IKEA, only spread out, not Swedish, and with all the furniture already assembled.) No pictures do it justice, but I love just looking around at everything. This is just a bit of the electronics/appliances area.

We had more time after that, so we went to the Snooty Mall. I love going there and making the rich people nervous. I told Lloyd he needed to show off his “I support Ron Paul” button so that they could see that Ron Paul is for everyone, including poor people. The shopping center has Borsheim’s (Warren Buffet’s jewelry store), a Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids, Williams Sonoma (so pretty!) and a bunch of ritzy clothing stores that don’t interest me at all. The real reason to go is to hang out in the middle area/lobby/atrium/piazza/whatever. When Lloyd and I build our underground house, it will look exactly like this. Only with a bed. And a kitchen.
So that's what simple folk do?

Yeah, Lloyd, I suppose you’ll be rushing down to the farm and start hewing timbers this summer?

I’m sitting in a room right now filled with stuff , dumb stuff, but not yet ready for the trash stuff … my closets & cabinets are busting with stuff, and I have alot sitting out stuff that needs to be put away. I’d like to get rid of all this stuff, but it’s “good stuff”, to make room for more stuff. I love stuff!

Pottery Barn Kids rocks!! I needed a personalized blanket for Anna, since her new babysitter liked to called her every other name possible (Anne, Ann, Annie). The catalog said that both the pink and purple blankets reversed to the same color, so I got the pink one. When it arrived, it reversed to white, so I called to ask about it. They went ahead and took a new order from me for a purple blanket (after personally checking that it reversed to the same color), rushed it through the plant and shipped it FedEx to me. AND they let me keep the pink blanket! That was the best part. I admit, they’re too little pricey for me to get everything there, but you can’t beat that service!
