Remember back when i said we were going to sew the birds? Well, we did, and here they are. There are few things more fun, and slightly dangerous, than sewing with preschoolers. I hold the cloth and let them press down on the sewing machine pedal with their hands. We practice beforehand ‘stop when I say stop’, but it doesn’t really matter – they get so excited with the power of making that big machine bend to their will I have to say ‘stop – stop – STOP!!’ the first time they do it. It’s awesome.
Here’s a close-up. The beaks look blunted, but trust me -it was the only way to make it work. Sure, it’s shoddy workmanship, but I’m all about making things up as you go along… and speed. “We’ve got twenty of these to do, people! Let’s make quota!”
