I don’t get what is happening to me on Saturdays. Throughout the week I make a mental list of all the stuff I’ll get done over the weekend, but I’m a complete sloth on Saturdays. Well, not completely – I got a tiny bit of school stuff done, made food, quickly cleaned up the basement with Lloyd (our furnace died today so we have to make it presentable for the repair people) and re-did the corner in the living room.
You might want to check out the picture of the adorable Tim at Beth’s site. After you admire the handsome boy, you can see the baker’s rack in the back. We bought that for our apartment kitchen in Maryland that had no cabinet space. It has followed us on all our moves, and I think I’m done with it. The past few months I’ve been casually scouting for some tall (cheap) piece of furniture that could fill that space. What was I thinking? I’m married to Auction Boy, so I had something in the basement.

1st! I love the door … and it must truly be a magic door, it’s already added a warm glow to the room & a beautiful plant has appeared from nowhere.
When can I borrow your door?
Brad says
You didn’t write this correctly. You should’ve said: “Yesterday, I spent all day doing schoolwork, cooking, cleaning out the basement, and re-arranging the living room.” That would’ve made me feel guilty for how little I did yesterday and would maybe encourage me to get something useful done today. Now I’m just going to take a series of naps. Maybe I can get one in before church…
Lauren says
I didn’t write down that I took a two-hour nap. I love Saturday!
Beth says
The door! I love it! I so wanted to use that in our basement bathroom, but now I know it was not meant to be -- it looks awesome there.
(And thanks for the little add for http://www.bethtastic.com)

I thought that was your living room Tim was crawling through, but I was confused by the crate of toys… I love the door!! But is that a snowflake in the middle of the door? If so, did you just reduce your snowmen to their simplest form?
Lloyd says
Not quite their simplest form. That will come later.
Lauren says
Re: snowmen -- ha!
We keep toys around for all the little friends that stop by, and also to keep Lloyd entertained.
It’s not a snowflake on the door, it’s a flower. Anyone who’s been here care to guess where it’s from? Lloyd didn’t know.
Deanne says
It’s quite lovely, and you DID do an awful lot under the guise of laziness. Is that supposed to make all of us true sloths feel better?
Annette says
I’m sure the door wasn’t stolen from the CDC, otherwise it would be in a million pieces. However, I’ll need to see your knees on Monday.
Great style Lauren—love that door!
Deborah says
Who knows what we’ll find in your basement!
How’s the furnace. Things like that stress me out. Aren’t they supposed to work forever with no maintenance? I’m counting on that for our van.
Lauren says
The furnace is kaput. Today is colder than yesterday, due to the sun being a slacker. We’ve been in Lincoln this afternoon and have come home to a 62 degree house. Annette, I have stolen one of the space heaters from the center. Fire me if you must, but wait until it’s warmer.
Kristi says
What happened to your devilishly hot cement block heaters?
Lauren says
Those are fun for feet heat, but I’d have to have thirty of them to heat the room. By the way, it’s 8:15 and the dining room is at 67. We’re ok! (The upstairs is 57, though. Gonna be a cold night.)
Brad says
I heated a room with tealights once. Light about fifty of them and close the door. You’ll see. Freakishly warm.
Mom says
Love that door. Didn’t know that was what it was though. Auctions have some merit!.
