Um, I lie to children.
Have I mentioned before that I’m the Leprechaun? I love St. Patrick’s Day because the night before I go into my classroom and stamp little green feet (thanks to some cool stamps my sister gave me ages ago) all over the floor and shelves. The next morning somebody notices, then another, then the whole room is filled with children guessing that it was probably a squirrel, or a hamster, or one of the toddlers, or …… a leprechaun! Later in the morning we find a clue that tells us where to find the pot of gold. I get asked lots and lots of questions throughout the day, and I deny everything. “Did you make those feet?” “Look at my feet, my feet are huge! Those feet are tiny.” “Did you see him?” “No.”
Mmmmmuuuhuuuahhahhahaa! I love it!
Kitt says
Ha! That’s brilliant. So cute.
Brad says
Perhaps you can use the Leprechaun as a behavior modification tool.
My first grade teacher said to us at Christmas that we’d better be good or Santa would leave a stick for us instead of candy when he visited our shoes in the hallway. And she’d actually put sticks into the shoes of naughty kids!
Deanne says
Oh, that is cruel… Did any of the bad kids get better?
Peggy says
I LOVE THAT LAUREN! How fun!!! I too love to
tortureprovide fun activities for young people. As one of the leaders of our youth group at church (what were they thinking), I’ve done some pretty bizarre things!Mmmmmuuhaahhhhhh!!
Peggy says
Wasn’t it punishment enough to make all you little 1st graders go barefoot in the winter?
Beth says
It was east Tennessee. Shoes are optional.
Brady G. says
Being from western North Carolina, shoes in most of Tennessee are optional and a luxury.
Beth says
Heh. Indeed.
Peggy says
What happened to Laurenburg? And why hasn’t it’s disappearance been on the news?
Lloyd says
They had some trouble with their servers yesterday and it was really slowing things down here, so I removed it. I’ll put it back where I found it.
Lloyd says
Unless they are still having trouble, in which case I will immediately remove it again.
Annette says
What?? The Leprechaun gig is all a scam??? All these years??? The Tooth Fairy, Santa and Easter Bunny too? (Brad, leave the Easter Bunny ALONE!)
Kristi says
Your little leprechaun needs shoes. Maybe you and your little preschool munchkins could sew some tiny little shoes for him and leave them out at night. Wait, that’s a different story.
