When they took out the basketball hoop, the tree trimmers took away the concrete, but couldn’t take the rest of the pole away. We tried setting it out with the trash, but apparently they only take things less than 4 feet long or some such nonsense. I detached the hoop-y part and set it out by the street for someone to take, and had an absolutely genius idea for separating the two pieces so they could go in the trash can. Spray the joint down with silicone spray, cool down the inner part with ice, then heat up the outside with boiling water. Grip, pull, done.
Um, no. It is super stuck. Granted, it was Lloyd pulling on it and me pulling on it, which is as effective as a normal person and a noodle working together, so that may have been the problem.
Lloyd tried bashing it with a hammer next, but I think he may just be working through some noodle-related frustrations.
I have solved the problem by hiding the pole under a row of bushes. Good enough.
