As I was getting ready to write this post I was scrolling through the old ones and saw that Brad left last Friday. I was truly shocked. I said to Lloyd, “Brad was here last week? Wasn’t that …..a hundred years ago?” We’ve had frigid temperatures, a snowstorm and three snow days in a row – which Lloyd had off, but I didn’t. It’s been a little stressful.
I’ve been getting home rather late the past few nights, and Lloyd stepped up to the plate (literally) by getting supper ready all those nights. He re-heated his famous meatloaf on Wednesday, and Thursday night he made spaghetti! He thawed meat, cooked it up and everything! Thanks to the guidance of Chef Internet, he even cooked the noodles – and all on one little induction burner. Tonight (Friday) we had leftover spaghetti. Way to go, Lloyd. I will expect more food from you in the future. Seventeen years of playing ignorant are over.
What was this post going to be about? Oh, the measuring gadget. We bought this spaghetti portion-thing years and years ago at a thrift store, and now it has actually been used. Turns out, it’s actually pretty accurate. We’re angel-hair pasta people (thanks to the Gebhardts) but I would assume it works for regular spaghetti, too. That stuff’s straight, right?
Brad says
Congratulations, Lloyd! Now you need a signature catchphrase or sound, like Emeril’s “Bam!” or Ina Garten’s laugh “Ah heh heh heh heh. How great is that? Ah heh heh heh heh.”
Peggy says
Way to go Lloyd! You are the man.
And what a cute gadget! I’m guessing it doesn’t say ‘Made in Italy’ on the back of it…where 1lb of spaghetti serves 3, cereal bowls are the size of mixing bowls, and 2 bottles of wine is the minimum per dinner.
Lloyd says
That’s a good idea. I think I’ll institute a 2 bottle of wine minimum around here too.
Peggy says
PS Oops, I forgot to turn off the bold after ‘are’.
SERIOUS QUESTON: I’m assuming the holes are 1-4 servings? It that right?
So did you use hole number 3 for 2 people? (it doesn’t feel right typing hole that many times…)
Lauren says
I fixed the bold for ya.
We try and make extra for leftovers. “We used hole #3 -- that’s enough for two people and leftovers.”- direct quote from Lloyd. We would stink as Italians, huh?
Peggy says
Thanks! And no one stinks more at trying to be an Italian more than me. Just ask any of the Italians.
