So, we went to Fremont for the northern Sommerer reunion. It’s a smaller affair than Heit’s Point, but the food is no less delicious. I piled my plate high with homemade goodness.
We left around 3 o’clock, and stopped at a Zesto’s ice cream parlor in Wahoo on the way home. Zesto’s is a chain ice cream franchise that is big in the Midwest, and this one had a 50’s vibe. There were a bunch of Harley Davidson bikers there, but I think they came for the ice cream – not to serve as decorations.
Coming around full circle in our food journey, I’d like to take you back to the park were we had lunch with the Sommerer’s. The park restrooms had recently been redone. Last summer there wasn’t any toilet paper, but this summer they provided toilet paper and a new prison toilet. I felt like a high-class felon using this facility.
Awesome does not begin to describe the experience.

At least you didn’t have to worry about someone breaking the toilet off the wall and attacking you with it…

That ice cream shop sorta looks like the place in Indy where I got my tattoo. That had a 50 vibe to it as well. Does that place do tats in a back room?
Peggy says
You have a tat? Can you tell us what it is? It wouldn’t have to be photoshopped out, would it?
Karla says
Yes, I have a tat! I’ve had it for almost a year now, but I’ve wanted one since college; I just never knew what I wanted. I ended up getting an alpha and omega intertwined on the inside of my left ankle. Alpha and Omega; A and Z; Anna and Zeke (my kiddos). I love it.
Here’s the picture that I took to the tat place: http://tattoos-and-art.com/wp-content/gallery/greek-tattoos/alpha_omega_large.jpg It’s way smaller on me.

The urinal in the boys restroom looks like the one on the Death Star.

Two very interesting memories of the reunion!

That is a BEE-U-tiful plate of food. Makes me hungry just looking at it.
Lauren says
You should come up for this next year. I’ll change your last name to Sommerer for the day to make it official. 😉
