Sam, this one’s for you.
We took Lloyd’s parents to the UNL surplus auction this morning. (Yay! A surplus action! Sam, this is where you stand up and cheer.) We saw all kinds of junk fine items there. The best thing there were these chairs from the dorm rooms. You could sit in them regularly, or lean back in them without bending any back legs. (When people lean back in chairs it’s one of my pet peeves because at school I’m the one who has to fix the chairs when the legs get bent or broken. I’m a big ol’ wet blanket, y’know.)
Lloyd’s mom is leaning back, and trust me – she is super comfy!
Despite Lloyd’s parents being there, this guy looked the most like Lloyd:
At the auction, Lloyd was the Bad Guy. There were sixteen tables and several eager bidders. Lloyd won the bid with $7 a table, and when asked, “How many will you take?” he answered, “All of them”. There was a collective intake of breath and general seething followed. I plucked the visual daggers out of his back later.
I didn’t buy this sign, but the sentiment is so, so true.
Kristi says
So how many chairs did you buy to go with ALL THOSE TABLES???
Lloyd says
I picked up 34 chairs for $9.00 then sold 2 of them for $2.00. You can’t have too many chairs.
CousinSam says
What did those fancy Macs bring? I want a knockdown of the items and prices.
Lauren says
I don’t know what they went for, but some hipster dude was sitting with his girlfriend by us on the crazy chairs, and he was saying, “I really hope it works.” I told him that if it didn’t, he could turn it into a really cool side table.

Lauren says
Dang it. That looked cooler when I typed it.
Lloyd says
They went for something like $35 with 17″ monitors and $22 with 15″ monitors. A friend of mine from Messiah Lutheran bought 14 of them for that.
Brad says
Heh -- I like that saying. Maybe I should have everybody call me “B” from now on.
Lauren's mom says
$9.00 for all 34 chairs, or $9.00 each?
Lloyd says
There were actually 3 stacks of chairs, and it was $3.00 per stack.
