Yes, it’s Second Saturday! We might go to the State Fair so Lloyd can buy some mustard, or it might be another day chock-full of naps. *sigh* I’m good either way.
Between naps I’ve been puttering around the house. I’ve cleaned a little (thank you, Hoarders), processed some laundry, and had a couple of cooking experiments. One experiment was seeing if I could freeze celery.
I don’t often need celery, but I like to cook with it. The few times I buy it, I use a couple of stalks and then the rest turns to pudding in the crisper. That’s so wasteful it makes me crazy. Today I tried chopping some up, freezing it, forgetting all about it, and then was completely surprised that there was a bowl of celery in the freezer.
It’s bagged up and is ready for future experiments meals. This ought to work, right? I know it won’t be crispy once it’s thawed out, but I don’t need it to be crunchy if I’m cooking it. Right?
I’m insecure about my celery.

Haha! The Hoarders theme music sounds like the music from Terminator 4. Awesome!

Celery… painful memories of Brommer.

How did it work out? I always throw away slimey celery too…and the sight of it makes me sick, not to mention the wastefulness. But I do like crispy celery in my tuna fish.
While we’re talking about freezing stuff—I have been growing fresh basil the past few summers & you can freeze those leaves. I have fresh basil year round. Woo hoo!!

I’ll have to tell you once I’ve cooked something. I checked out some sites -- after the fact -- that said that these will turn straight to mush. We’ll just see about that, internets.

What about drying them next time? Then see which one is easiest to work with.

Sounds like an experiment…….
