Kathryn Peperkorn, opera star, was flying into Omaha, and Lauren had Grandparent’s Tea at 7:00pm (go ahead, ask her), so I went to pick her up. Coming into Omaha at about 5:00pm the traffic going out was pretty bad. In fact, it was backed up behind an accident for nearly 4 miles at one point. Well, needless to say, I worked hard to find an alternate route.
The alternate route put us back on I-80 in more or less good time. We had avoided all of the traffic. Until the interstate stopped. We spent more or less an hour and a half crawling along (when we were moving at all) until we came up to this:
Okay, that will stop traffic. No other cars. just a semi turned over in the interstate. Then we passed the second one. This is a photo of the THIRD one. Seriously?
No other evidence of –here we’re guessing– really, really high winds. Well, except for these guys. They started out on our side of the road.
From the other direction these cars were being escorted.
But we made it home safely.
But what about all the people behind us on the interstate. You can’t just tow that truck out of the way. Standing it back up will close both lanes. They might still be there.
