Lloyd has a concert coming up, and we’re trying like mad to keep him healthy until then. I’ve been sleeping on the sofa since Thanksgiving, which has it’s ups and downs. Wait – only downs. Downs like freaking out when the ice maker crashes a load of ice into the bin, or hearing the heating vents *pop* when they cool down, or hearing some wild animal make snorting sounds just as I’m dropping off. Oh, wait… that’s me…
Anyway, I connived Lloyd into buying some snake oil powder and we’ve been taking it twice a day. It’s the Emergen-C brand, and each dose has vitamins, zinc and ground unicorn hooves – guaranteed to make you healthy. The kicker is how much vitamin C it has: One thousand milligrams! That is 1,667% of your RDA! Honestly?!?!? Don’t they know I’m just going to pee that out? It is grabbing germs as it passes through?
Whatever. *cough cough cough*
The flavor is ‘Ruby Lemon Honey’. It is terrible. I couldn’t believe how bad it was so I googled it, and many are in agreement. The other flavors – raspberry, orange – are good, but as one reviewer said, “It tastes like propane smells.”
Brad says
It tastes like propane smells? Now I have to try it. Where do you get it from?
And isn’t Vitamin C acid? Doesn’t it bother your stomach?
Lauren says
We got it at CVC.
My stomach never really hurts from acid, it’s the nighttime trouble. This week has been off, though, since I take cough medicine right before bed and wake up the Acid Producing Machine.
Nigel says
I apologise for my grossness, and certainly dont want to put you off trying to stay healthy, however that stuff reminds me of sputum mugs I used to empty in my dark days as a general nurse. I hope the concert goes well. You will have deserved it.
Dad Royuk says
If it’s that bad, ya’ll will stay healthy just so you don’t have to drink the stuff!!! It works that way for me with coffee….if I need it to stay awake, I stay awake just so I don’t have to drink the stuff.
Peggy says
Why is it most healthy things taste blechy?
Could you mix it with something that tastes better…like say lemonade, iced tea, wine?
Rae says
I have something of that variety that I got from the nurses here at the university. It tastes like pink lemonade and is not too bad.
