So, let me get you caught up.
The Christmas holiday did not begin as planned. I was at work until 6 on Thursday, came home, started dinner, and planned to get all my remaining ducks in a row (pack, get the last presents done, etc.) before we left in the morning. However, at 6:30 we decided to check the weather. Icy rain and snow were predicted to fall between here and Missouri that night, so we hurriedly packed the car and were on the road within half an hour.
Great.
The roads were dark and shiny, so I assumed they were also icy and drove along at a snail’s pace. Lloyd (who wasn’t letting being sick prevent him from passenger-seat driving) kept assuring me that the road was just wet, so…. maybe I could speed up? I decided to keep a stony silence going – it really added to the evening.
We had Pricelined a hotel room in Kansas City, but we had been checking the weather as we drove and decided to just bypass the motel and keep going. So, three more hours of driving and William Shatner got to keep our money.
I don’t really remember much of the last hour, except that I was NOT driving and remembered why I am a terrible passenger. I was so tired but I couldn’t sleep because paranoia had taken over and I was sure that if I was actually asleep Lloyd would fall asleep and we would die. Stupid paranoia – I’ll get you someday.
Christmas itself was wonderful. Lloyd’s mom made tons of delicious food, Christina and her family were there, brother Aaron came, but brother Andrew was sick. He should have come to the house anyway – he and Lloyd would have made a fine pair.
Presents were exchanged, church was attended, sleds were ridden, games were played (but not by me – I’m a Scrooge), a snowball fight was fought (but not by me – I’m a coward, so I made a snowman lineup and then gave them to my nephew for ammo) and, for my part, many wonderful naps were taken.
That’s all from around here. How was your Christmas?

Christmas was actually pretty fun. I actually had good conversations on Christmas Eve, even though I am quite claustrophobic and there are always too many people.
I received wonderful gifts for Christmas including a new Papasan Cushion, a sewing machine, and nesting doll shaped measuring cups!! Squee!!
I did only get two hours of sleep… and found out I had to work an extra hour at work… which pissed me off.. >_< and everyone else.
But grammy loved her present. And grampa had a fun time, and it was really nice to see everyone. I'm looking forward to having some time to actually use my sewing machine… but I've fallen asleep in my Papasan several times since christmas.. (every night since then actually ^^;; )

It seems like it just wouldn’t be Christmas without you driving through a snowstorm or something. Merry Christmas!
