When Lloyd is sick, I find it in my cold, dead heart to be kind enough to him to bring him medicine. Sometime last spring I brought him a pill with a small glass of water half-full, and of course he drank all the water. With his next dose, I gave him a fairly full glass of water, and was surprised that he drank it all. I didn’t say anything, though.
Hmmmm.
Without his knowing, I started to bring him larger glasses with progressively more water, and each time he drank the whole thing – without comment.
He caught on when I brought out the Big Gulp-style cup that was filled to the brim.
Lloyd: Wait a minute……
Me: Do you realize you always drink all the water?
Lloyd: Of course I do! That’s what you’re supposed to do!
Me: What if I brought you a bucket?
Lloyd: We’ll see….
Brad says
Heh. You should experiement with different liquids. Would he take a pill with a glass of cold, refreshing pickle juice?
Deborah says
I never knew you were such a rule follower, Lloyd.
Lloyd says
Why would you not drink the whole thing? When you are sick and at your most vulnerable, what kind of a person would mess with you like that?
Peggy says
That is hilarious!!!! Isn’t it great fun doing experiments on those we love!
And this will be a great bit for that sitcom I hope you’re working on!
Lauren's mom says
Water is GOOD for you! You should drink a lot of it, especially when you are sick. It flushes the germs out.
