Here I sit at my computer,
Trying to think of what to write.
It wasn’t a very interesting day,
many things wrong, not much right.

My thumb is cut, but too gross to show,
Dinner was only toast and eggs.
The movie was stupid, I am sleepy.
The creative bucket is dragging the dregs.

This form of rhyme is not my style,
So it doesn’t even come out well.
Instant rhymes are hard to write,
so I’ll just have to say, “Oh well”.

Dang. You’re not supposed to use a word
to rhyme with the word that you just said.
Whatever. You’re no Rhyme Police.
Good night, everyone.

(I would like to point out that SEVERAL times during the edit of the FIRST edition of this poem, Lloyd groaned audibly – scoffing and making comments like “Gol.” SO, first prize to the best comeback to Lloyd!)

I can so totally see you as a beatnik.

Except for the turtleneck. I’ve found that in my old age I don’t like things touching the front of my neck -- it makes me gag. Now I can only wear them in cartoons.

      • Kristi Said on:

I can’t wear turtlenecks anymore either. It’s too confining. Is this a sign of aging?

        • Lloyd Said on:

Lets face it, they were never very comfortable. I think it’s a sign of no caring as much about fashion when fashion is uncomfortable.

  2. Brad Said on:

When you’re stuck, you could always post a picture of your feet. That could start a lively discussion.

    • Brad Said on:

Reading this again, it looks a little like an insult. I didn’t mean it that way… I was speaking from experience. I post pictures of my feet all the time.

I did not in any way mean to demean your feet.

      • Lauren Said on:

Ha! I didn’t take it as an insult, but of course we both know that I would never post a picture of my long toes and bunion. Even when the Terrible Memory is posted, it will contain a cartoon of my feet. 🙂

        • Peggy Said on:

Ooo…do you have a terrible foot memory or are you just joshing us?

I like your poem & I don’t see anything wrong with long toes. It’s like long fingers…they’re graceful & elegant. My little toes are on sideways, & that has always bothered me.

          To Lloyd: You’re a Gol!

    Comeback to Lloyd: -LEE”

(Or aren’t you old enough to remember that?)
