Ok, I know I was going to write a rant, but it’s not fully formed or justified in my mind yet, so let’s get back to last Saturday when I was having photo problems. (I also know that these are not art shots – just pictures I’m too lazy to write text for.)

Marisa is a dang fine writer, and has a deep love of jars, which I admire greatly. She did a cool thing regarding caring for her wood utensils with homemade spoon butter, and wrote about it much better than I could ever hope to do.
All I did was take some pictures of my messing around.

My first thought was: “Why is Lauren posting a picture of laxative today?”
Is that concoction good for any wood surface in and around the house, or is it meant specifically for kitchen utensils?
Beth says
And my first thought was, “Why is Lauren posting a picture of a LUBRICANT LAXATIVE today?!” HA!
We must be related.
Lauren says
That’s the kind of sense of humor I love!
Brad, yes, you can use if on other wood surfaces. It’s basically just greasing it up with an oil that won’t go rancid. I wouldn’t use it on my floors, though, unless I really needed some insurance money.
Lauren says
By the way, we had Sunkist Fruit Snacks with lunch yesterday, and while checking to make sure if they were gluten-free I read that mineral oil is an ingredient.

Brad says
So could you use Sunkist Fruit Snacks as a laxative or a lubricant?
“It’s a floor wax AND a dessert topping!”

My 1st thought was: “Did Lloyd pass out after taking too much mineral oil?”
My 2nd thought was “Ewwww, now a picture of a big ‘ol block of dry cheese!”
My 3rd thought was “Aha—see I’m not the only one with a spoon fetish. Nice collection Marisa!”
But now I so envy the spoon butter & I don’t have any of the ingredients. 🙁 I think it’s time for a shower for Peggy!
Lauren says
I can send you a jar! I thought of you the whole time I read Marisa’s article.
Lloyd was hooking up the new modem on his computer when I took the pictures, and I kept laughing. When he asked what was so funny I just snickered, “Nothing.” I am a terrible wife.
Peggy says
Really? Seriously? I can send you a postage paid little box to ship it to me in.
Lauren says
No box necessary -- just e-mail me your address, and understand that I am extremely slow at getting things shipped. 🙂
Marisa says
Yay, I’m so glad you like the spoon butter! I love that you poured it into smaller jars while it was still warm enough to do so (all the better for sharing).
Haden says
So, I didn’t read the blog, just looked at the pictures…
Are you soaking cheese in Mineral Oil?
Now I’ll go back and read the comments 🙂
Lauren says
Yes. It’s all the rage in Paris. 😉
Marisa -- thank you for the inspiration!
