Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there, especially our own! I love you, Dad! (I assume that Lloyd loves his Dad, too.)
Last weekend we bought a grill. We were actually shed shopping, but Home Depot had the model of grill that Lloyd’s had his eye on for a while, and it was $20 cheaper than it used to be. Our old grill is a rusty adventureland, and we didn’t think it would make it through one more summer. Hence, shiny shiny new guy.
Lloyd says that it is the highest rated grill according to Consumer Reports, and I believe him, since I’m never going to read that issue.
After we put it together I read some online reviews, and everyone said pretty much the same things: even cooking; it lacks a ‘grilled’ taste since it does the infrared thing; and it was danged difficult to put together. People complained that it took well over an hour and a half to assemble. Well, it took us a week.
Saturday: Buy a grill.
Sunday: Get it out of the truck.
Monday: Get it out of the main box.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: Walk around the boxes of grill parts.
Saturday: Stay in your pajamas and assemble while watching a dumb movie.
Bonus points go to Char Broil for their excellent system of packaging parts. They were in a blister pack with the size and number of parts labeled on the back side. Excellent! We did still wind up with two extra lock washers, but they can’t be that crucial.
