Saturday morning we drove Charles to the airport so he could go get his family and bring ’em to Nebraska. He was flying on standby, so we just left him at the airport and hoped for the best.
Then we walked around the Old Market for a while. They were having their Farmer’s Market and the place was hoppin’. There was some boy playing Star Wars songs on his violin, a guy wailin’ on his sax, and a brave young girl just standing there and singing all by herself. (She was too close to the sax guy, so it was hard to hear her.)
After walking around, Lloyd decided he was hungry and bought us some breakfast burritos from a ‘stand’ that was really just a screened-in porch. I felt a little like we should have also got some free malaria vaccinations.
After eating, we managed to run into the only two people we know in Omaha – Mark and Beth from the uke group. They had very nice cameras and were out and about taking pictures. I had to shamefully discuss how we haven’t gone to uke group in years, but maybe life will settle down soon.
Next we went to one of the many antique stores. There is a rambling one that has a new feature: They set up a room with old wooden theater seats and they run movies all day – for free! Granted, it was Star Wars Episode 1, “A Slow, Painful Death”, as Lloyd subtitles it – but it was free! (We only watched a little.)
Next stop: Lloyd’s bookstore. I got a picture of him in his natural, yet dying, element.
That was about it for the day. Lloyd slept in the car while I walked around the snooty mall (where they had a shrine to Steve Jobs in front of the Apple store) then it was home to be nappin’ by 3:30!
A perfect day.

I have never eaten a breakfast burrito in my life. The thought of them sounds gross to me. But I guess I should at least try them once. Is there a fast food place that makes a good representative breakfast burrito?
Lauren says
This was the first one I’d ever had. I ordered the ‘kiddie’, since it was cheapest at $3. It was literally one scrambled egg inside a small flour tortilla with some cheese sprinkled one. With every bite I bemoaned what a ripoff this was.

I know people who swear the breakfast burrito at Sonic is the best -- it has tots inside so it has to be good! (I’ve never had one myself though.)
Curt says
There is a great burrito place in Lincoln called DeLeon’s. Their bacon burrito is awesome!!
Lauren's dad says
The last one I had @ MacDonald’s was actually quite good.
Peggy says
Was Lloyd sorry he missed the shrine? Or does that one pale to the one he’s working on?
And I LOVE breakfast food….but I don’t know if I’d like it all rolled up together. Hmmmm.

I’ve had breakfast burritos and like ’em. We made our own: pork sausage, eggs, cheese, peppers, tomatoes. It reminded me a lot of a big omelette.
And what is the group consensus regarding a Kindle? I don’t own one and really don’t know if I’d like it.
Gretchen says
I got a Kindle before moving overseas -- my thought was not to accumulate more “stuff” here and to be able to buy a book instantly if I wanted it. Honestly, I haven’t used it too much. We do have a decent international library so I’ve gotten lots of books there. It is also sometimes frustrating that I can’t loan a book to anyone (but on the other hand, my books never disappear.)
Peggy says
I do not own one either. And although I can see the plusses in owning one, I don’t think I’m ready for one yet. Yes, it’d be great at the beach….but would it get all sandy & ruined or would someone steal it when I was in the water? Or what if I left it somewhere? I’m no help.
