On the day I washed my truck I also shamefully cleaned out the interior – bags of trash and assorted junk that didn’t belong there. I also took out the battery charger-thingie that we got for Christmas last year. It’s a cool idea – it will give you a jump start when you’re too chicken to ask a stranger for help. It needs to be recharged every two months but I hadn’t charged it since March.
I took it inside, plugged it in and let it sit in the kitchen for a couple days to charge up. (Really. It just eats electricity.)
In the meantime…. today on the way to work I plugged in my heated seat and stupidly left it plugged in, draining the battery. I got in the truck to go home and it was dead, dead, dead.
Gaarrrr!!! I called Lloyd to ask him to come help. He misunderstood my mumblings and thought I was going to use the charger. Yeah – the charger that was that was sitting on the counter in the house he was in.
Grrrrr… He showed up after the second ‘where are you?’ phone call and argument, but not before I cursed his name.
Anyway, the real point of this post is to put up this blurry picture. When we got home Lloyd gave me the now-unplugged charger and tried to tell me how to hook it up. I am very unlikely to remember how to do it, so if I’m ever stuck I’m going to call one of you and ask you to pull up this post.
The red goes on the battery and the black goes on that bolt on the left side of the picture. Don’t worry – just say that and I’ll know what it means.
(Or I won’t and I’ll electrocute myself. Don’t blame yourself, please.)

I have changed the title, thanks to your amazing research. Guess what? I’m also going to call you when the battery’s dead, Research Man.

Why don’t the car companies color-code their nuts and bolts and cables and stuff like that? When the bolts all look the same, how do they expect us NOT to electrocute ourselves?

Sorry about your battery misfortune … at least you had a warm tush.
