Marching right along

Marching right along

Journal

I’m with Gretchen – the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is just so nutty, it is difficult for it to be enjoyable. The past few years I haven’t even put up a tree because I think, “For cryin’ out loud – I’ll just have to put it away again in a few weeks”.

I just can’t get over how fast time is going by now. Lloyd and I have talked about this before: When you’re a kid, a year can be a huge fraction of your life span. Now, it’s just a sliver. What is it like for older people? Is it like one of those old-time movie scenes where the months on a calendar zip by like a flip book?

I have used these calendar pieces for over a decade and a half. Good grief!

Shouldn’t your title be: “Decembering Right Along”? Ha!

I have probably said it before, but what amazes me about the passage of time is how long some pile of junk or opened cardboard box can sit in the same place in my house without me realizing it. I’ll do a recycling sweep and discover an empty box I had opened six months ago. Sheesh!

The only decoration in our house is the Advent wreath right now. The rest of the stuff, tree included, won’t go up for at least another 2 weeks. That helps keep some of the craziness out of the way for our family.

The lamination on your calendar pieces seems to be holding up well. Now what would do the same job for me?

Indeed time does fly by so fast …. November was just a blur …. it zoomed right by & I really don’t even have a remembrance of it. Suddenly it’s Dec. 1st. Ahhhh!

I love my house all decorated, but I HATE the chore of it anymore…and then I’m all gloomy when I take it down because everything looks so plain, it’s a lose-lose….but I keep doing it. I guess I would like the pain of shooting myself in the foot too.

We mark time by how long we’ve lived in a certain place. For example, if I find something purchased at Winn-Dixie I know it is two moves ago = very old.

    At my age:
“This is a nice month, wasn’t it!”
