So, here’s the story of getting the truck unstuck:
John and Kate, who are awesome, said that they had a manly, strong truck and would be happy to help pull the truck out of the ditch. They were going to the Parade of Homes and could help me afterwards, and I’m so glad, because Lloyd was home by then.
I would not have been able to be the pullee in this scenario.
Now, I don’t know if I listed the many things that have been wrong with my truck in the past years, some of which have been fixed during its one trip to the shop:
No interior lights (not fixed)
Revs out of control (fixed)
Idles at 25 mph (fixed)
Rattling (fixed)
Passenger side door unable to be unlocked with key (not fixed)
Now, I’ve had a solution for that last one, just in case I would have trouble with my other lock. I leave the back window closed, but not latched. Well, wouldn’t you know it, while still in Lincoln I was stopped at a stop light, leaned back and opened the window, threw my cheese and Little Smokies into the bed of the truck (so they’d stay cold on the way home), then quickly slammed it shut, latching it.
Back to our story. We arrived at the truck, and neither Lloyd nor I could unlock the driver’s side door, and I couldn’t get in through the back window! Dang it!! We wasted minutes using his key, then my key, then pounding on the door. It wasn’t iced shut, it was just stuck. Finally it opened.
I got to see the front of the truck, where I had apparently tried to floss my truck’s teeth with barbed wire. Lloyd had to cut it free. (He spoke to the owner about it already.)
It got too dark to take any more effective photos, so I’ll just tell you that I was so far off the road it took four separate tow ropes/chains to reach the truck, and then John’s truck pulled our little truck, dragging it along like a mean kid drags a reluctant puppy – it was amazing. Lloyd was in our truck and knew just how to turn the wheels and when to brake. I would have caused another accident.
So, all’s well that ends well, and I am exceedingly grateful to the Bradys for their kindness!
Anybody want to buy a truck? It has cheese and Little Smokies iced right into the bed liner!
