It snowed today, and after I scraped my truck’s windshield, I gave a go at freeing the snacks trapped in the truck bed. The cheese came up right away, but since the truck had been stuck at an angle when it was in the ditch, the Little Smokies were encased in over an inch of ice. I chopped at the ice with the scraper, and in the near-darkness I heard the sad, sad hiss of a vacuum seal being punctured.
Dang.
I was a little sad, but then I realized this could be their salvation! I didn’t need to get the whole package out, just free the poor little sausages trapped inside. I drove home to get a knife and perform some sort of emergency c-section.
(Bleh. I wish I hadn’t written that. Oh well, what’s done is done. It’s not like these things have an ‘erase’ button or anything like that.)

There’s no actual picture of the freeing, because I had to use my bare hand to dig them out, and they were rather cold. My camera manual has a whole section on ‘do not use when hand is cold and sausage scented’. It’s very thorough.
Lloyd’s staff party is on Sunday, and if we play our cards right, we might be bringing the most adventurous hor d’ouvres ever!
