Lloyd and I took a long weekend out to visit my parents. They are ‘technically’ not doing so well. On Monday my mom had a bone marrow biopsy because her bloodwork is a mess. She has something called MGUS that is very complicated to explain. Not to be outdone, my dad had a mild heart attack on Tuesday. However, if you talk to them, they say, “We’re doing just fine!” and they look very good. We had a very relaxing weekend in their lovely home.
Since I planned this trip last-minute, plane ticket prices were prohibitive, so Lloyd and I took the train out – and it was AWESOME!!! I will leave the details of the train ride for tomorrow’s post, but prayers for my folks would be welcome and appreciated.
Thanks, guys!

Sheesh! Are your parents having a contest or something? Tell them that outdoing each other in a cardgame is a better idea. I’m praying for them and you. 🙂
I went looking online for a description of MGUS. I like this headline from the Mayo Clinic’s website: “MGUS: A Common But Typically Harmless Blood Disorder”

I like that your Dad’s recliner is mauve and your Mom’s is blue-gray. Way to go breaking gender-color-stereotypes Pastor and Mrs. Hofman!! 🙂
And we’re praying for you!
(Also, I can’t wait to hear about the train…I wonder if we could take the train to Baltimore this summer…hmmm…)

Wow! You’d never guess that that good looking, smiling couple have any health issues!
Prayers surely coming your way! God’s love & peace to you all!
Lauren's dad says
There’s a story behind Mom’s blue-gray chair, and I’m color-challenged enough that it doesn’t matter to me. Thanks for your prayers, everyone, and please keep us in them. As of this minute, Lauren and Lloyd’s train is 80 or so minutes late, in Utah.

Gotta love the train! We missed you guys in Church, and you are in our prayers.
Kristi says
We’re keeping you in our prayers here, too. Did Lloyd and Lauren do all of the work while they were at your house?
Lauren's mom says
None of us did much work. Lauren is cooking bacon right now. 🙂 We have had a short, but wonderful visit.
Kristi says
Bacon makes everything better. Unless you’re watching your fat intake.
Gretchen says
Glad you got to go see them -- I’m sure your visit did much to cheer them!!
