Long ago and not so far away….

Journal

I’ve been busy, but not with anything photo-worthy. Since I’m currently spending most of my time waiting for various videos to load, let me share one with you.

My school is part of Arbor Day Foundation’s Nature Explore initiative, which basically means that we believe that children should go outside and be in nature – real nature, not just plastic furniture that is surrounded by bubble wrap. They need to find bugs and get a little dirty.

Back when we transformed our old playground in ….2007 (I think) I took a bunch of pictures and had just learned iMovie. We’ve used this video for some presentations, and I really like the music.

If you have a few moments – enjoy!

Just think… all the kids in that movie are all grown up. They’re probably old enough to do multiplication by now!

I guess I’m ahead of my time. Or just cheap. I never bought a swing set or anything else like that for our backyard. All the girls had to play with were bugs, grass, dirt, and sticks. I guess I should write a book.

      HAHAHA!! You funny Deborah!!

Nice video….the kids are sooo cute! And I love the remake of the area with the pavers & beautiful plants and flowers!

One of my favorite things to do when I was a kid was to follow a stream that was near of house. We’d jump from rock to rock. We’d look for minnos. We’d do all kinds of exploring. We’d do that for hours & hours! It’s a shame, but I don’t think it’d be safe to let kids do this on their own nowadays. Not in Baltimore anyway.

Well done. In these here northern parts, we look for snakes and night crawlers. Ya, I said snakes.
