It has been brutally hot here. We are under a severe heat warning for the next 4-5 days, and have had them for the past few weeks. It hasn’t rained since the end of June, and everything is baked and burnt.
Fortunately, I have spent much of my time in the air conditioning, drinking coffee. Every morning I polish off the end of yesterday’s pot and brew a fresh one for Brad and I to work on throughout the day. (He’s leaving today, by the way. Booooooo.) I’d offer a cup to Lloyd, but he refused.
One morning, though, he surprised me. I perfunctorily asked if he would like a cup, and he said, “Will you make it candy coffee?” which means my way – lots of milk and sugar. I took it one step further and sprinkled in some of the tiny marshmallows that I bought for them in Colorado (at Target). He thought it was great.
Now, note the amount that I, a non-marshmallow-lover, sprinkled in. As a kid, I used to spoon out the marshmallows after making one of those packets that *shudder* included them in the cocoa mix. Now note the amount that Brad sprinkled in his own coffee.
I think we’re on to a new trend. I’d better see if Lincoln’s Target carries these.
Brad says
Those marshmallows are just like the kind that come in cocoa. I’ve always thought there weren’t enough in the cocoa pouches. Now I see you can add your own! Awesome!
Kristi says
I see those marshmallow bits are labeled vanilla. Are you telling me that they come in other flavors, too?
Lauren's mom says
Is there such a thing as cocoa-coffee? With sugar and cream and marshmallows, that would be a good drink.
Lauren's mom says
Oops! I guess that’s called mocha. I have never been to Starbucks… I drink Folgers, -- weak, and with nothing in it but coffee and water. 🙂
Lauren says
Yes, those are mochas, but I think the marshmallow addition is an untapped resource! Let’s get rich!
