I am a crummy friend to Brad. When he’s here, I barely feed him, just as I barely feed Lloyd. I justify it by the fact that 1) it’s too hot to cook and 2)many times Brad’s family gathers for meals, and he says he gets stomachaches from eating too much. See? I’m looking out for his health by having bare cupboards! It’s thoughtful! (I’ll just keep tell myself that as Lloyd thoughtfuls to death this summer.)
There were some food exceptions that happened near the end of Brad’s visit, though. On his third-to-last day, I made the giant lasagna that we had bought earlier in the week. We didn’t even make a dent in it, and the leftovers are still in the fridge.
On his second-to-last day, we all went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant where the portions were huge! The fajita leftovers are still in the fridge.
On Sunday Lloyd and I made deviled eggs and a double batch of bacon-wrapped little smokies for the reunion. Lloyd wanted there to be enough little smokies so that he could have some at home. Well, there were plenty of Bacon Bombs left over and a fair number of eggs, too. They’re in the fridge.
Lloyd’ parents brought up a ton of fresh veggies from their garden and also baked beans for the reunion. There is a whole garden’s worth of leftovers in the fridge.
We took Lloyd’s parents out for dinner Sunday night and guess what we did with the leftover pizza? I.T.F.
Lloyd is at a conference until Wednesday, so I guess I’ve got my work cut out for me. I spent a fair part of the evening dividing it all and trying to freeze it, but I think most of it won’t be as good when it’s thawed out.
Feast or famine around here.
Sorry, Brad. Would you like me to mail you some food?
