My last home visit tonight was in the tiny town of Dwight, about 15 miles from here. I had never been there before, and after visiting with Tristan and his family, I had to drive around. It just felt so peaceful. Every tiny town in Nebraska has to have a tiny little ‘Main Street’, and this one did – including the obligatory bar/restaurant:
Holy cow! I was in Czech queen territory! AND they had just had their town’s quasquicentenial (I’m not going to try and spell it right) since it seems every little town in Nebraska is having theirs. They decorated the buildings with gorgeous ribbon-like patterns all over! I was practically swooning as I took photos (standing outside my still-running truck that was parked in the middle of the street, because that’s how little Dwight is. There were no other cars – just me).
Swoon.
This place needs some investigating:
There were signs up proclaiming their 125th birthday celebration, which was last weekend, dang it. Dwight has a HUGE Catholic church, and they hosted a meal for over a thousand visitors, according to Tristan’ mom. Maybe she said 10,000. I forget – I was pretty tired.
How little is Dwight? They still have a pay phone.
I love this town.

What a cute, quaint, decorated little town! Did you happen to see the Sheriff & his Deputy putzing around?
And I think any place celebrating a quasquicentenial should have balloons too! A quasquicentalloon right int he middle of town.

That pay phone is how you get in and out of the Matrix.

In a couple of pictures, I see wooden rails. Do people still tie up their horses when they ride into town?
