(Lauren says, “Happy Birthday, Keren!”)
Lauren had a huge day with their big Baked Potato Dinner last night, so she said that I had to do a post. And it just so happened that I need your help.
Every few years I actually remember that April Fools Day is coming up before it gets here and someone tells me that my shoe is untied. When that happens, and I have a little time, and I have an idea, I like to do a little fooling at Lincoln Lutheran. A four years ago we changed all of the links on the home page to Rick Roll everyone who came to the site.
This year I’m trying something different, but I need a few people to help me test it before the big day. That’s where you come in. So pretend that you don’t know that this is an April Fools Joke and go to this page. You can read the page if you want. It’s a little bit interesting. Eventually you’ll get bored with the page and you’ll click on a link (I hear-by swear on my mother’s grave that you will not be Rick Rolled when you click on the link). Here’s what I want to know:
- Did anything happen when you clicked on the link?
- Could you figure out how to “get out” without using the back button or reloading the page?
- After you “got out”, did the links on the page work normally for you?
- What browser you are using?
If you have time, come back to this page and report your findings in the comments. Thanks for your help.

Using Android JellyBean, I did as you asked. I had to click on a link and open in new tab to get a link to load. I do that sometimes anyway on my tablet, so it wasn’t that different.
Lauren says
1. Yes, something happened.
2. Yes, because I have already seen this. Several times. (That does not diminish the awesomeness of it!)
3. When I went back to try a link after I got out (because I forgot to test that the first time )I scrolled down before I clicked and The Magic only occurred where the original page would have been. Not that you asked. Anyway, the links worked.
4. Browser…. you mean Firefox, right? Not ‘the white computer’? Computer lingo is hard.

Did anything happen when you clicked on the link? yes, code appeared to rain on the screen.
Could you figure out how to “get out” without using the back button or reloading the page? The first time no, second time I found the link for “there is no spoon” that go me back.
After you “got out”, did the links on the page work normally for you? yes.
What browser you are using? Chrome 25

Yes, a cool lime green matrix-y thing rained down (great discription stolen from Brady)
Yes. I didn’t know it would get me out, but I clicked “There is no spoon” & out I went. Btw: Because I’m a spoon lover, I got a little verklempt when I read that.
Yes. I clicked the link & it took me to Brad’s site.
Browser: e IE9 (does that sound right)
Peggy says
PS. I have explorer…but when I clicked the link in this post,
e IE9 came up. So I hope that’s the information you need.

I clicked the link and it took me to your very first post on the site. I could not figure out how to get out so I click the “home” link and green symbols rained on me -- eventually there was a link in the middle of nowhere that said something about not having a spoon so I clicked on that and it took me back to your first post from 2006. I am using Internet Explorer -- it’s also 8:00 am and tax season -- not optimal thinking time for me.
Kristi says
1. I got a black screen with all sorts of green symbols and such scrolling down the page.
2. There was a note that said This is not a spoon or something like that. Then another note said click here.
3. I “got out,” and everything was back to normal on your page.
4. What browser? I don’t know. Is it Safari or Google? How do I find out?? I’m embarrassed to say that I really don’t know.
Kristi says
4. Safari 6 -- The link made perfect sense for that.
Brad says
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Chrome

It doesn’t seem to work right on iOS and Android devices, so I tried to make it so that nothing happens on them.
Jill says
Nothing’s happening on my iPad, so you’re right about that. Will try on my laptop.
See you Sat night for our yearly hello!
