Last Friday we had an abundance of nearly-ovrerly-ripe bananas at work that didn’t get eaten up at breakfast. I thought this would be a good time to try the ‘one ingredient recipe’ ice cream. It’s just frozen bananas that you’re supposed to whip up in a food processor and apparently it’s just like ice cream. Disgusting, disgusting banana-flavored ice cream. (Not a big banana fan here.)
I tried my useless blender, and they just sat there while the blade spun. I had already explained to the kids that since this was an experiment, this might not turn out all right. We poured in some milk to get ‘er going, and said that it would be a banana milkshake.
I have a whole song that we wrote last summer about ‘I am brave! I am adventurous! And I try new foods!’ I am embarrassed to admit that after I served this up to the children and they pronounced it delicious, I only pretended to drink mine, then it went in the trash.
I am not brave. I am not adventurous. I only eat bananas in the twenty-minute window between unripe and overly ripe.

I totally hate bananas. Hate hate hate. I wouldn’t even have had the guts to put them in a blender -- the smell alone would have made me ill.

I’m sorry your ice cream didn’t turn out.
I do like bananas but they have to be ripe. I don’t know if I’d care for banana ice cream though.
Love your new songs!

Frozen chocolate covered bananas.
Mmm…

I’d have a hard time with that, too. I’m with Lauren on the 20 minute window. I do like banana bread and banana milkshakes. As long as there are no banana chunks. Jibblie!
