You get an x-ray! And YOU get an x-ray!

(The above should be read in your best imaginary Oprah voice.)

My joints. They ache. Ever since Ralph grew to be a hefty cat, it’s been difficult picking him up with my left arm. For months my wrist has hurt on and off, but the past couple of weeks it was quite achy, and this past week it was downright painful. I was pretty sure that it was tendonitis (also spelled tendinitis), but since it also ‘crunches’ when I turn it, I thought a visit to the doctor would be a good idea.

On Saturday mornings you can just go to the clinic and be seen on a ‘first-come first-served’ basis, so that was the plan. Since Lloyd is still having trouble turning his head, I told him to get his butt in the car suggested that he come along, too.

We had separate appointments, which was a bit of a bummer. (I forget what the doctor tells me when I’m in the actual situation, so somebody should be there to take notes.) The doctor/nurse practitioner (I don’t know what she was) examined my wrist and told me that it was probably tendinitis (also spelled tendonitis), but that we should get an x-ray to rule out other damage.

Woo-hoo! An x-ray! Validation that something is really wrong! (Um, I might be a hypochondriac.)

We walked down the hall to the radiology room and as I waited outside the door I sent Lloyd a text. “How are you? Are you done? I’m getting an x-ray!” A little later the door opened up ….. and out walked Lloyd. Dang it! Thunder stolen.

He’s got some trouble. There is supposed to be a gentle curve in your neck and they told him that his is ramrod straight. (Also spelled tendinitis) He is supposed to go to physical therapy and also get a massage. (I told him that that last bit was probably for me.)

As for my wrist? Well, it’s 10dun*eyetys. I should keep wearing a brace and take Tylenol. (Or was it Aleve? Someone should have been in there with me to take notes.)

Then the doctor asked me, “Did you break your wrist at some point? You have a recently healed fracture in the bone under your thumb.”

Ummmmm…….. I couldn’t answer. I honestly didn’t know.

Once home, I checked the website, but the only ‘fall on my wrist’ record is for the other hand. Good grief. I’m going to have someone walk around with me to record my life second-by-second.

Congratulations on your x-ray (also spelled Rontgenograms)! It is nice to see that the work of Wilhelm Rontgen and Marie Curie is still put to good use.

If you would stop thumb-wrestling the munchkins at school, you wouldn’t have broken that bone in your thumb.

Will insurance pay for Lloyd’s massage? My doctor once told me that I’d my insurance would pay (which it wouldn’t), he would write me a prescription for massages.
