Happy Birthday, Mom! A card for you (and a late one for Dad) is in the mail, but won’t get there today. Um…. turns out that both cards will be late.
I found my keys! The fourth time searching the Honda was a charm. They had fallen just under the floor mat on the passenger side. I am most grateful!
Monday evening I went to a presentation called “The ABCs of Sore Knees” given by our local orthopedic surgeon. (He actually has a practice in Lincoln but comes out here on Mondays. Yep, a traveling doctor – just like in pioneer times.)
I went for my creaky sore knees, but stayed for the ego-boost of being the youngest in the room by at least a decade! Wait – that’s not entirely true. My friend Melanie went, too, but left when they started talking knee replacement.
Not me. I stayed for the whole thing. Gotta plan for the future and all that. I remember years and years ago when Hugh Downes did a whole 20/20 segment on getting his knees replaced. That was – and still is – so fascinating! They cut off the ends of your bones and put metal there! It’s like being a cyborg! Dr. Tewes even had a still shot of an actual knee replacement so he could explain how the placement of incisions has changed over time. As I gazed at that knee split in half with two people pulling the soft stuff off to the sides with little crowbars, I thought to myself, “Brad and Lloyd would sooooooo be passed out right now.”

Haha! You’re probably right. Although I have been building up my resistance at my new job.
If you get a knee replacement, you should get a fancy model that also acts as a bottle opener or something.

I love your title….it sounds like a song,
Knees and keys and a … big sneeze,
(tune of Dry Bones…I don’t know why that’s in my head…maybe because my brain is drying out)
And hooray for finding your keys!! I know what a relief that is!

So creaky knees are bad? Mine sound like a Barbie doll. I can’t sneak up the stairs ever.
Peggy says
Hahaha! I remember that sound vividly. We used to bend them forward & backwards to hear the sound….but then again we were a weird bunch.

Happy birthday, Lauren’s mom!
