Last week I was talking with the kids as we were getting up from naptime and some of us were reminiscing about when Ralph used to visit. They asked about his eye, which I thought was very polite, and then the older children told the younger ones about the Legend of Ralph’s Bad Eye. Offhandedly I said, “I should bring Ralph by again.”
Later in the afternoon, Jesse came up to me and said (with puppy dog eyes), “Um…. where’s Ralph?”
Drat me and my empty promises!!
Well, this afternoon we only had 13 preschoolers, so when the two afternoon staff came, I was free to go do my other work, but instead I went home and got Ralph. First we visited the toddler girls who shrieked with delight that such a big kitty was in their room. They made him pretend snacks and offered him dress-up clothes. The preschoolers hung out with him next, and Jesse was satisfied.
I still had stuff to do in the basement, so Ralph came down to hang out with me and sniff stuff. I am thankful he didn’t pee anywhere.

I took Ned on many adventures when he was young. It made him very outgoing. And it made him dislike dogs -- I often took him for playdates with a golden retriever puppy that would play too rough.

Awwwww!! What a treat for the kids & hopefully for Ralph too.
I have been thinking about getting a cat recently for some reason. I’ve never had one. I don’t know how my dog would get along with it. Maybe I should just settle on some fish.
