One of the cats (I’m looking at you, Emme) prefers to let her poops air-dry. Her brothers usually cover it (mostly), but there remains the fact that every so often, a bit of cat poop is scenting the very air in the laundry room. The laundry room where I air-dry my clothes.
So. I’ve used charcoal filter/fan things before, but I saw a review for Fresh2 CFL bulbs that I thought had to be a joke. They are light bulbs that are supposed to freshen the air. That sounded about as plausible as a broom that can wash dishes. (Oh, wait, didn’t that happen in Fantasia?)
They are coated in a magic substance that gets activated by the light bulb being on. I put one in the hanging light that is always on down there, and so far so good. Let me send Lloyd downstairs for a sniff to see if it’s working. (My knees hurt.)
Lauren: Lloyd, will go you please go downstairs and bring up a can of olives?
Lloyd: Black olives?
Lauren: Yes, please.
Lloyd gets up and goes down the stairs.
Lauren (yelling): IT WAS A TRICK! GO AND SEE IF IT SMELLS GOOD IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM!
Lloyd: Hmmph. I’m really not the best one to tell you. (His nose doesn’t work real well. It’s why he’s such a good middle school teacher.)
Lauren: Is it gross?
Lloyd: No.
So there you have it. After a day of being on, the lightbulb is keeping the air non-gross. That’s more than anyone could ever ask for. Except for that broom.
P.S. Those bulbs are crazy expensive. I got a deal – 2 for $26.
