A while back I either watched a show or read a book where one of the characters said something like, “I wish I had realized that the good old days were the good old days.” That was such a striking comment (but apparently not striking enough to make me remember the origin), and I am trying very hard to appreciate the ‘now’.
I need to give myself a little reminder that the weather is great now. It’s not too cold – a light jacket over my sweater is good on the playground, and the afternoons aren’t so hot I’m sweltering in pants. The windows at home can stay open a bit and the house is airing out. At night I even have a fan going to move that fresh air around. It’s very pleasant.
Soon will come the heat and the humidity and the bugs and the sweat, but for now? For now it is nice. I especially appreciate the little nook at the top of the stairs in the daytime. When the weather is nice and the windows are open, it’s almost like a little screened-in porch.
We all enjoy it.

Emme is fearless! Gus is so wobbly, if he tried to walk on the railing like that, he’d fall down the stairwell.

(Ralph tried this two days ago. He fell down the stairwell. There are some scratch marks, but he’s ok.)

Okay, I’ll play along… The wind isn’t blowing 40 miles an hour. It is good now.

I so agree! The weather here has been just perfect!!! I’m not a fan of hot weather either. I’d take the cold any day over hot.
And a co-worker & I were just talking about the concept of “the good old days” the other day (referring to our kids). We came to the conclusion that we think of it that way because we’ve forgotten all the hard stuff & just remember the good stuff.
