A while back I either watched a show or read a book where one of the characters said something like, “I wish I had realized that the good old days were the good old days.” That was such a striking comment (but apparently not striking enough to make me remember the origin), and I am trying very hard to appreciate the ‘now’.
I need to give myself a little reminder that the weather is great now. It’s not too cold – a light jacket over my sweater is good on the playground, and the afternoons aren’t so hot I’m sweltering in pants. The windows at home can stay open a bit and the house is airing out. At night I even have a fan going to move that fresh air around. It’s very pleasant.
Soon will come the heat and the humidity and the bugs and the sweat, but for now? For now it is nice. I especially appreciate the little nook at the top of the stairs in the daytime. When the weather is nice and the windows are open, it’s almost like a little screened-in porch.
We all enjoy it.
