Sam, Rachel & Co. came over Friday afternoon to visit Lloyd, and when I got home we decided that it would be a good idea to go to Bee for Fish. Bee is a teeny-tiny little town north of here that serves bar food, and on Fridays they serve hundreds of people hundreds of plates of fried cod, coleslaw, crinkle-cut french fries and a slice of buttered rye bread. A lady at the table next to us looked at her plate and softly said that she was expecting a sandwich. The robust lady owner/waiter said, “A sandwich? There’s no such thing. We have plates.” A tablemate handed the lady his slice of rye so she could invent a sandwich.
The ambiance is amazing – people were packed in carpeted wall to carpeted wall. The food was delicious – its flavor enhanced by the hour-long wait. I would have eaten the tabletop and pronounced it fabulous.
A good time was had by all, including Rachel, who didn’t make it in my group shot. (Sorry, Rae.)

You should never apologize for NOT getting me into a picture. Rather, let me thank you. Also, thanks for sharing the Bee adventure!

Love it! Quincy discovered the Friday night Bee fish fry this past school year!
Mom says
Must have been good time had by all. Sam has a fish eatin grin.
Kristi says
Ah, yes, the carpet on the walls. Do you think it’s still the original carpeting?
Lloyd says
I don’t think you can get that carpeting anymore, so, yes.

While I did not go often to Bee, I do consider it a highlight of my time at Concordia. In Indianapolis, we have a place I like to frequent in the Wanamaker community, Wheatley’s Fish Fry. Highly recommend if you are in the area. I’ll buy!
Gretchen says
Love that place! Is Tombstone Pizza still an option?
Lauren says
If you meant ‘the only other option on the menu Friday nights’ -- yes!
Brad says
Ha! I’m glad your title is Beef or Fish. That’s what it sounds like to everyone the first time. Then they end up like that lady, asking for something that’s not available.
