Samith and Stephannie had a party at their new home tonight. It was a combination housewarming/20th anniversary party, and was wildly successful. (My shame is that I don’t actually have them in any of my photos.) Their new home is gorgeous and there were sooo many people there! Introverted hermits like myself are always surprised that humans can know so many other humans.
Samith’s parents and brother were there for the event, too. Samith’s mother made samosas, delicious little triangles of heaven, fried in a wok. I told her that my recipe for curry comes from her son. Long ago Samith told me, “You need butter, onion, chicken, curry powder – and my mom puts in some other stuff.” Mmmm….. other stuff……
There were gobs of children running around. Friends, cousins, more friends and cousins all running around and playing games. As we toured the house, we came upon the following scene in the master bedroom. It was either the worst spot for Hide-N-Seek or the best spot for Lil’ Shawshank Redemption.
Lloyd and I bought a funny gift to bring. When we were married Samith and Steph bought us bathtub coloring items, so I thought this was ironic. What was not ironic, but rather just sad, was that I left them at home on the counter.
I realized this halfway to Lincoln, and proceeded to draw an exact replica to share with them at the party.
Exact. Replica.
