This has been a weird string of days. Lloyd was in Atlanta, I was in Colorado, we came back home and got ready for the reunion. Some friends stopped by to stay a few nights for the big Seward 4th of July celebration, we made a ton of salads to take along, packed up the car and headed out.
As we approached Kansas City, the car felt weird going up a hill and the check engine light was flashing. Lloyd called his car guy to see if this was something we could ignore until later and he said, no. No, we could not. Pull over now.
Thank The Lord that we were in Kansas City. We found a Honda dealership with an excellent service center. Pathetic (edit: I typed this from camp and have no idea why it says pathetic. I think it was supposed to say ‘ then the nice’ or something.) nice people from Budget brought us an ADORABLE Fiat that was shaped like a smart car. I almost wept because there was no way we could fit all of our stuff in it. We traded out for a very nice Ford Hybrid.
This could not have turned out better. Lloyd has been itching to buy a Prius, and this car was like driving a video game. It tells you if your braking and acceleration is optimal, and has screen all over that tell you what is going on in your engine – if you are using the battery or the engine. It syncs to your phone and apparently has the parking assist function, along with many, many other functions. I told Lloyd, “They gamified your driving.”
So, we find out tomorrow if it is fixable. Tune in for details!
