Ok, the WordPress app just needed an update, so now I can post those photos. By the way, today went very well. A very nice first day.
Here was my classroom around 5 or 6 Wednesday evening. I stayed until almost 8 getting it all done, but I won’t post an ‘after’ picture because….meh.
Our toddler teacher took some bulletin boards off her walls and realized they had been painted around and we did not have any matching paint. She asked if she could do an accent wall, and choose a teal-ish blue. Normally I am vehemently opposed to crazy bright colors in early childhood room (so ‘cutesy’ and crazy-making), but she has good taste and it is a good complement to her style.
The sun was fading as I took these photos, so they are not as attractive as they are in real life. My student teacher from last year is our new 3’s teacher, and she really did a splendid job making her classroom look nice and inviting.
My contribution was a spot for her baritone ukulele. I had a board long enough to make a shelf for over the window. It’s high enough out of reach that the school-age kids won’t bother it. If they do, I will remove their hands.
Lastly, Sam’s room. He removed a bunch of shelving and painted one wall a bright green. “Why?” you ask? Well, that will just have to wait for a future post…..

The classrooms all look great. I like that color blue.
I have a guess about Sam’s wall.

My guess is that Sam’s wall is made out of those big, flat, green lego bases from my childhood and that students will be able to attach other lego things to them.

I NEVER WENT TO A PRESCHOOL WHEN I WAS LITTLE. MAY I MAKE THAT UP AND ATTEND BY ‘AUDIT’ IN YOUR ROOM?? I WILL VOLUNTEER LOTS OF GRANDPA THINGS BUT I CANNOT SIT ON THE FLOOR WITH THE CLASS BECAUSE THERE’S NOT ENUFF OF THEM TO HELP ME GET TO MY FEET!! 🙂

Sam’s green will either keep them awake or drive them up the wall. Green is in now, so I suppose it will be the 1st one. I like the blue too.

Sam’s wall looks like the weather wall at a tv station…
