I have Parent-Teacher conferences this week, so one of the projects this weekend was to finish getting my notes on each child onto the paperwork I share with parents. Those are mostly done – Yay!
The other job was to make some shepherd costumes for the Lighted Christmas Parade that is happening in two weeks. You might remember that last year at this time we built that float? Well, this year the only modification to it will be some larger wheels so it’s not as difficult to push. We are a little behind in getting families to sign up for walking with us, dang it. It will all work out. *breathe*
Anyway, I asked for donations of fabric so I could make shepherd robes, and a very nice lady donated some big bolts of cloth. I feel bad because I was thinking ‘old bed sheets’ and this is ‘nice upholstery’. It does not change my method of construction, though.
Nope, these are very basic shepherd outfits. There are a few of the standard “T”-shape construction,
a couple of long vests,
and a couple that are just long rectangles with a hole for the head that will be a kind of belted, sandwich-board style.
No fancy ‘finished’ edges – just chopping with pinking shears. Hey, do you think shepherds had finished edges? I think not.

Hehe… I like the basic shapes. Could I wear clothes that were made like that? I could almost make them myself!
