Ha! This came about due to a few different things:
1) When we have salad at lunch, my kids ask if it is made in a factory. I am not sure if they thing the cutting-up is done in a factory or if some machine made the leaves. I wanted them to see what a head of lettuce looked like, but cabbage was cheaper.
2) We are talking about zoo animals. Some animals eat leaves. This would be a good tie-in.
3) In college, I ate my first piece of raw cauliflower ever. I broke off all the little florets one by one and when I was done I was ASTOUNDED at the perfect little castle turret that remained. I showed it to everyone at the table and got some ‘you stupid idiot didn’t you know that would happen?’ looks.
4) Taking a cabbage apart is fun.
