When I was a kid, my mom would make Russian Tea, but we always called it Tang Tea, because it had delicious, delicious Tang in it. (I’m a big Tang fan.) Her recipe involved Tang, plain instant tea, a packet of unsweetened lemonade, a bunch of sugar (probably a cup for the lemonade), some cloves and some cinnamon. Her recipe is probably a lot like this one.
However! Nowadays they have that half-tea/half-lemonade mix that works wonders! In fact, now you can make Tang Tea like you’re doing sand art! My method?
* Pour about an inch of tang in a jar.
* Pour about an inch of tea/lemonade mix on top.
* With a spoon, put some plain instant tea between the ‘hill’ in the middle and the outside of a jar. It will level it off and cut some of the sweetness, because basically all you have right now is a jar of sugar.
* Sprinkle a little cinnamon on top of that, and just a dash of ground cloves.
* Repeat until you get to the top.
BOOM: drinkable sand art. Admire it, then shake it up!
Add a couple of spoonfuls (more or less) to a cup of hot water, sit back and remember the 70’s. Ahhhhh…..
