There is a river birch on our playground, and this spring a robin has built her nest up in the branches. We can see the nest from down below, and occasionally glimpse the mama’s tail sticking up, but that’s it.
Today I got our big ol’ ladder out and took some photos. Awwww…..
They are so, so, so ugly. Seriously. Is that a maggot with two feathers? Cute up, kid, and make it quick.
Brad says
Of all the birds in the world, you get a robin! Good for you! They’re pretty, they’re song birds, and they don’t kill other birds’ babies.
Did the mother yell at you while you took that picture?
Lauren says
No, but I frightened her off twice. The banner picture I took in the morning, but I was too far away and couldn’t reach up high enough with the iPad to see in. For the second (in the afternoon), I moved the ladder much closer and shuffled through the branches. She flew off each time, but came back right away after I got down. She hates me.
Lloyd says
I expect you to have a webcam mounted there by Friday.
Peggy says
“A maggot with 2 feathers…” HA! And aw.
And I agree with Lloyd. A webcam!! We wanna see these maggots blossom.
Kristi says
Where is the shell that held the egg?
Yes, web-cam, please. I have some little ones who would check in on it regularly.
Lauren says
I know, right? We looked around on the mulch under the tree but didn’t find it. The shell, not the webcam. 😉
