Well, Heit’s point was a bit different this year. We we about half an hour away from camp when Sam, who was already there, sent a text asking us to stop and buy some Febreeze and a fan. apparently the bunkhouse we were staying in had water damage.
Boy, he wasn’t kidding. A couple of days earlier they had torrential rain that either came in through the windows or up through the foundation, but either way, half of two rooms were soaking wet, and had been for days. Those dumb camp counselors – who are just kids themselves – didn’t tell anyone until the last day of camp. Now, I don’t want to bash the management, since Heit’s Point is a wonderful ministry that runs on few people and little money, but this was a problem.
We used an industrial carpet cleaner to suck out the water, ran a couple of fans and hoped for the best. The first night sleeping there was bearable, but the second night Lloyd and I slept in the car (yay!) because he couldn’t handle the smell. It was pretty bad. It was so bad that I am currently washing everything we brought to The reunion, even the clean stuff, because it smells so musty
Tomorrow I’ll have to tell you about the dock rescue, if Rachel will text her pictures to Lloyd. Will you, Rachel? Thanks!
