I bought some things for Deborah’s bathroom that weren’t needed for the final iteration. One of those things was a toilet paper holder. Lloyd and Deborah both had the idea to use it to hold half a roll of paper towels. You might laugh, but I always just tear off a piece tiny enough to get the job done. I buy the half-sheet kind, but get about five small pieces out of each towel. (You do not need a whole piece to wipe up a little milk splatter.)
Anyway, it is attached to the inside of the cabinet with double-sided tape. The old holder was on the counter, so that’s one less cluttery thing, right?
On to cutting the roll in half. I used a hacksaw, and am the first to admit that this process could have gone a lot better.
So there we have it. What essentially looks like a roll of toilet paper in my kitchen. Hope it works out.

That’s cool. I like the idea of the smaller sheets, but I, too, find them to be often too large. Or too small. Your idea is interesting. I will want an update. (Yay! A future post!)

Here’s your update: the tape didn’t hold. Now I have to upgrade this experiment from ‘prototype’ to ‘commitment’. Great.
Brad says
Hehe.. I was going to make a comment about how I’m always telling people how brave you are when it comes to putting holes in the walls and such. Will you do it for the sake of the experiment? Maybe there’s some over-the-cabinet-door thing you could put a board on and screw it into that board. It could take you all day to prototype! 🙂

Way to goad me into action. Permanently attached now.

J ust put the idea on the Internet and some company will decide to make it. ( the roll I mean) probably charge you twice as much for the roll. Novelty, you know. I like the partial roll idea but not for everything.
