As I go along during teacher workdays, I have several ideas that would be great to do, but get left along the wayside. One idea I had was to buy several 1/2 pint jars and make a lovely wooden cubbyhole/rack-thing so I could have more of my science stuff out and displayed in a pleasing manner. Can’t you just see it? Jars of acorns, feathers, mouse bones, etc. It would be lovely.
But there was no time. On one of my runs to Menards I grabbed this, a ‘small parts storage drawer’ system, thinking that if it didn’t work, I could just return it.
Hmmm…. it just fits on my science shelf….
And it is AWESOME!!! I started out loading just a few of the drawers and left them unlabeled. It was so successful! Opening a little drawer and finding something cool inside? That’s living the dream!
I had the idea to see if the children would decide to label the drawers, but yesterday – after the big colored dots/keys/telescope/turtle shell debacle – I just took that part over. We have labels now.
I need more cool stuff. Cool stuff that fits in little drawers. Bring it, children!

LOVE this idea! Now maybe I’ll let them bring in more of their little “treasures.”

That IS cool. Maybe I’ll get one for home. I could keep all my cool things in it.
