My brother Phil is in the hospital with some heart issues right now, so your prayers for his recovery would be wonderful. Thank you.
Lloyd had services at the nursing homes this morning. He told The Parable of the Garage Sale, which he admitted was not a good parable, but was pretty good nonetheless. I was proud of him. The song leader did not show up, so I was the song leader, despite being punched in the throat yesterday. (Story below)
As we were arranging the tables at the sale yesterday, I had an armful of cardboard tubes that artwork had been in. I bent down to put them under the table and one slipped out and was upright – right as I leaned into it, effectively punching myself in the throat. Sam – to his credit – first asked me if I was ok, and then said that it was really funny. He was not wrong, but it hurt. (I’m ok now.)
I think we made about $3800 from the sale. I got to count all the money, which was very fun and very nerve-wracking. I first did it after all the clean-up and window-washing, and I was pretty tired. I counted it again after church and sure enough, I was a little off.
I slept in the Prius Friday night so everyone would leave the yard sale stuff alone. The police – who said I could park in their lot – told me that I was crazy. “This stuff is right by the police station. Do you really think anyone is going to bother it?” I told them that indeed I was crazy, and thanked them for their concern. They really are a nice bunch there.
Lloyd would like everyone to jot down that this is the week he officially became old. His back started to hurt last Monday, and all the work from the sale has really done him in. I told him that it’s about time, dang it.
This house is a mess. I would like to start chipping away at the really filthy parts, but we’ll see how that goes.
Ok, that’s about it. On to Monday! *Break!*

I’ll be at your house in about a month. Does that deadline help? I mean, I keep such a clean and neat house, you wouldn’t want me to see a messy one would you? (Ha! “I keep a clean and neat house”… Right. Maybe I’ll get some stuff hidden away before Brent comes here.)

At my last garage sale I made $20.15. You’re better at this than I.

Tell Lloyd that the back problem is good,..it is puting the muscles in reverse from sitting all winter. I was really sore after planting 55 zinnias, etc. Now I feel fine!
Mom says
I hope Phil starts doing better and Lloyd doesn’t hurt so much. You did well on the garage sale. What a way to start the summer off.
