It’s been pretty hot here during the past few days. Not west-coast hot, but hot enough for me. The nights have been plenty cool, though, so we’re doing the open-the-house-at-night thing still. I have every available fan stationed at a window to let the deliciously cool air in.
I moved my Grandpa Ernie’s fan to the dining room and turned it on, but it wouldn’t go. This thing is a tank, so I knew it just needed some care. I set out to find out what kind of care it needed.
I took it apart, dusted, vacuumed, (holy cow, I spelled ‘vacuumed’ right on the first try), and then put some trusty 3-in-1 oil on it. I wasn’t sure where, but all the spin-y parts and some of my floor got a pretty good application.
Behold! It works! The rotating grille switch has been broken for years, but I have my own fix for that. It used to be tape.
Not anymore.
